Commentary Tentang Enhypen

Hello, hi. Penulisan bawah ni adalah my personal opinion, commentary (?), observation (?) tentang Enhypen. For context, aku baru nak berkenalan dengan Enhypen lepas balik dari konsert WTL di Bangkok. Balik konsert biasalah dapat Post Concert Depression sikit, so kita search pasal Enhypen. Mula-mula layan variety show diorang, biasa aje lah sebab masa tu tengah layan SKZ punya varshow meriah. Kontra dibandingkan dengan Enha yang very the chill dan pendek je varshow diorang.

Entah macam mana sangkut kat lagu-lagu diorang. So below are my commentary bila marathon dengar lagu diorang. And all things that come after that. Jadinya ni pandangan aku as a very green Engene. Again, it's personal opinion, no hard feelings ya. Also, this writing akan diupdate whenever I discover something new ( to be updated whenever).

Lucifer

Actually dengar lagu ni first time kat concert WTL tapi tak masuk sangat sebab tengok 3 ketul kat depan dah pakai baju father. Relisten & I thought this a group song sebab wow banyaknya suara. Pastu tengok lirik video, eh lupa ni lagu unit. It's 02z line. Jay very wow here sebab how can he use a different voice in every verse? Sunghoon sounds a lil timid in English but man, his voice sounded angelic. Jake actually can make a sweet and a mean (?) voice in one song. But most importantly, the strain in this song is real. Camne lah diorang control their voices here.

Fatal Trouble 

The music sounds dreamy. Jungwon intro. Fav part voice Jay & Niki. Sunoo pun best, suara dia reminds me of Seokjin voice. Despite it's bittersweet sound, the dance performance sangatlah fast paced & tak chill, bersih lantai bila Sunoo kena tarik. The electric guitar in this is everything. Sekali lagi, apoo lagu pendek

Sedap lagunya ha. Suara jay lain sikit kat sini i like, its my fav part. Oh kat mv ni la lore heaven, hell mana satu angel & demon. Fuh lore diorang lain machiam tapi very esthetic.

Moonstruck

Eh lupa pulak nak komen pasal lagu ni. Ni antara lagu diorang yang aku familiar masa mula berkenalan. Rasanya lagu ni aku suka part Jungwon awal dulu. Dia punya “um yeah” intro tu wah. Pendek lagunya tak sampai 3 minit. Heeseung is the no 1 vocalist here & it's obvious. I dont know if it's just me but when they want to focus on Hee voice, they turn down or silence music on his part. And I thought this only with Heeseung tapi rupanya part Sunoo pun diorang slowed down the background. Anyway, sapa ad-lib behind this song?

Opening sound je dah tahu best. Its the Heeseung walk haha, the wet look and hand in pocket dance. It sounds very pop zaman sekarang. Susah nak pilih fav part sebab semua best. Ah lagu ni lagi laju 130 BPM

Aaa lagu ni pun fast pace sampai aku check Playback Speed tertekan ke. Siap check BPM lagu ni 122, patut rasa tak terkejar.  Part paling best bila beat slow down nak ke dance break dan Jay tabur pesona dengan high note dia. Habis je lagu ni, aku yang rasa mengah. MV lagu ni fun hahaa

Lagu terpaling aku suka suara Jungwon kat sini. Rupanya dia pun ada kredit dalam lagu ni. Loving the Japan city pop style. Entah berapa puluh kali dengar sehari masa mula-mula discover lagu ni. Niki can go places sebab suara dia masih develop, part dia fav. Tanjat kita lagu ni ada choreo, seperti tanjatnya saya bila lagu Tomorrow by BTS ada choreo.

Lagu yang sweet dan sentimental masa concert haritu. Rupanya its a fan song composed by Heeseung dan lirik dari members. Behind recording lagu ni https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fsMWKxqI97k I love that nowadays Kpop keluarkan rakaman recording lagu or Behind sebab we can see how they make things happen in the booth, how particular and detail they are, how they struggle to make a song. Would love to see them nasihatkan new group dari segi vocal, i think they all got point to say. Boleh dah Enhypen ready jadi sunbae dengan kehadiran adik Cortis sekarang.

Lagu ni fast pace gak. Suka suara Jay sini. Feels like OST drama youth. Part Jake best. Something about the beat yang lain sikit, its like its move forward lepastu track back. Ah susah nak explain

INDIVIDUAL VOICES

Aku masih lagi confused siapa sing this line kecuali suara Jungwon sebab tone dia unik, Niki sebab low voice, Heeseung sebab dia Wow. Sunghoon and Jake ok boleh recognized. But kalau line Sunoo and Jay tu mesti confused whose this. Seunghoon, Sunoo, Jake this three confused me sebab sedap weh suara diorang. Jake tone itu soothing, Seunghoon ada tone yang best gak but i still cant find words to describe it. Sunoo x Jake collab would be something. (Update: sekarang dah boleh kenal pasti suara diorang dalam lagu oh yeahhh).

Jungwon breathy voice macam JK sikit. Suara dia sedap lagu macam Let Me In, Hundred Broken Heart. Ah aku bias. Anw lagu Let Me In tu pada aku comel walaupun ada orang kata stop with the illusion idol as boyfriend. As cheesy as it is, I think that as a common phase/ theme bila budak-budak membesar. Ko tengok each group yang start dengan young age memang akan ada lagu jenis gini. Alangkan Justin Bieber pun ada Baby..baby…owh. That youngin confident in love, my nemo who search my heart hahaha sweetnya. Biaq la, mereka melalui zaman ini. 

Jay  liking and sound good in pop rock is unexpected tapi ngam betul suara dia lagu bon jovi . Suara dia strong and clear. Jay clean voice in Bon Jovi cover song with his own style but maintaining the original. 80s rock songs sound so good for him. Solo guitar part in that jacket and his hairstyle wow wee wow. He needs to perform this live, engene deserves that. Until now, I still cant bezakan suara Jay bila main teka suara siapakah ini sambil buat kerja & double check dengan lyric video ( yes I know lyric video kadang tak tepat sangat)

Update, I'm in trouble sebab now I can recognize Jay voice and rupanya banyak part yang suka dengar adalah part Jay. Baru tahu kenapa dia confusing dulu sebab in almost all songs, style nyanyian dan suara Jay guna berbeza-beza. Tak sia-sia ada habit random weird noises haha.

Jake punya suara sedap and sounded sweet. Australian English dia masih pekat. Sunghoon pun very steady his voice. Niki punya low voice arghh best.

For me in each group ada voice yang bahaya/ kadang kurang stable like in BTS its Jimin, in Enha its Jungwon. Actually bukan bahaya its like their voice are so easily identified sebab its different dari member lain, making its harder to combine or harmonized. But once they got the right part, the completed song sounded so good. Sunoo walaupun dia kadang crack but his voice aku rasa stabil dan manly(?) dari his usual suara bercakap?

AS A GROUP

Maybe sebab background aku yang suka lagu meriah hiphop, at first I wasn't really attracted to Enha music sound. Kurang ganas dan takde rap. All their songs sound polished, easy to the ears, and can be enjoyed by the public. I dont know how the company describes them, but they are a 100% vocal group with a distinct tone & voice  to every one of them. I shouldn't expect them to sound like BTS because they are not and I forget that I actually love vocal groups. Lupa asal usul padahal dulu terpaling minat TVXQ, BTOB dulu.

Walaupun Belift nak bawak dunia vampire yang dikaitkan dengan sexy, sensual gitu but i really think they are a group of vocal singer. Susah nak brain sikit sebab Belift sebahagian dari hybe yang asal usulnya adalah BigHit. Aku still think style awal2 Enha tu tak berapa ngam sebab come on! They were very young at  that time. Kalau sekarang diorang bawak lagu tu mesti lagi menjadik sebab memasing dah matured. 

The only song yang vibe yang at first listen aku akan layan adalah Outside dan bila tengok producer laa ada SupremeBoi. I think early listener to BTS hiphop sound akan pergi ke SKZ dan Ateez instead of adik beradik lain macam Enha, TXT etc buat then again I haven't listen to a lot of their song

Antara lagu bary yang aku enjoy masa concert haritu adalah the beat dalam lagu Teeth sebab dia bermain dengan rhythm and that's my shit haha. I need them to do more subunit and try all different genre sesuka hati. Tak taulah maybe sebab diorang budak survival show, the whole group is so competitive and had high standard for themself. For me, group ni boleh jadi standard kpop boy group yang seimbang kebolehan each member dari segi nyanyian dan tarian.

Korang kena faham, akak datang dari zaman mp3, so i really appreciate good sounding music with full experience lagi-lagi beat hiphop gitu thats why im fast to warm to Ateez & SKZ song. Even lagu BTS pun banyak aku layan dari lagu saja first, lama lepastu baru cari  live performance, lyric video, mv, dance practice, itupun setelah bertahun.

Other than voice, dance the whole group memang takde blackhole, tak jauh sangat level between members, sekufu dari segi voice. Top 3 for me would be Niki, Jungwon, Jake. His reaction here helps me to focus and appreciate their dance 

And after all these years, I realized I'm just bad at multitasking my brain function like nak tengok mv storyline, pastu nak decipher the code, pastu nak tengok wajah-wajah indah dengan face expression, dance move, the beat at the back, the camera movement, the lighting, different camera, different scene…that a lot for my still developing brain tau. Sis datang dari zaman dance practice is actually a leak video dengan background langit biru awan putih and not a properly shot video.

So really, it's always the song first. And as i always said, Enha song is very polished, so it's easy listening. But upon a few times listening and randomly curious on certain parts of beat or rhythm barulah i go back and listen again. The good thing is, they actually try various genres and music, mostly new sounding barulah in trend and gen zee and it suits them.

Ok now im gonna say something that might pissed off people. I dont get why nowadays kpop are into lore hell, evil and borderline satanic. Maybe it's just a personal opinion, but that theme leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Tak nak cakap lelebih cuma nak voice that out if kids don't realize that. Just know where we stand in this thing and when to not blindly like, enjoy and support something not aligned with our belief. Again, just saying as my own reminder and not preaching. Bukan dengan Enha je tapi kpop in general since lama dah, even in BTS pun.

Ok, next what i see is they dont have that colorful hair color macam typical idol dan diorang mostly maintain hairstyle yang lagi selesa. Changes to tak dramatic sangatlah bila comeback atau performance. Dari info Omniscient View  tu, diorang makan pun order masing-masing sebab taste lain dan senang tak gaduh. In a way, they seem to have more choices and freedom. Still masih dikawal company, macam Jungwon kena dapatkan confirmation before send gambar dalam Weverse. 

Jungwon as all leaders, protective pada his member dan berani standup pada company but in the same time jenis boleh atur the members. Dan members pun walaupun 5/7 adalah older than him, they listen to him. Disebabkan dia jenis ikut arahan, I think he's gonna be a loyal member of the group. Jenis macam U-Know TVXQ, Leeteuk Suju yang setia dalam company dan boleh rank up dalam company one day nanti. Uwon in leader mode, kinda intimidating sebab we all know he means business.

The fact that dia rajin giler buat Weverse Live sentiasa, kat Korea, in between tour etc sangatlah aku kagumi. Gigih dia layan fans dan spend time. Ok ni boleh bina relationship direct dengan fans, seperti mana BangChan dulu buat Channie Room. 

Why do I get the feeling this writing macam banyak lak pasal Jungwon, atau lebih mesra kusapa Uwon huhuhu. Masa awal dulu, perasan Jake sebab muka Disney prince dia tapi lama-lama terfokus kat adik leader. Tapi serious seram nak bias dia masa tu, dunno why rasa dia garang kalau orang buat salah huhu.

Setelah rajin tengok Weverse Live diorang, ada beberapa observation aku dapati.

• Manusia paling hampeh adalah sasaeng yang call phone member yang sedang live and ganggu the live and mood everyone. Dah diorang kena guna phone/desktop ofis. 
• Anak-anak Enha kan taat, rupanya nak live ke nak tunjuk or cakap something ke kena dapatkan staff/ company approval. 
• Jungwon boleh menang anugerah paling rajin buat live. Style dia adalah emotional support video call, just to catch up and check-in with fans. Dia buat live sebab nak dengar/baca what Engene got to say. Paling syok bila dia bukak lagu-lagu chill cafe. Tapi kadang-kadang boleh delulu layan live dia sebab soft spoken, video and lighting on point, rajin baca & reply komen, orang tengok boleh salah faham vidcall dengan BF. Dia pun ada 6th sense kalau member buat live, tetiba dia muncul.
• Style Sunghoon suka baca komen macam Yoongi, so in live nampak dia banyak baca tapi reply dalam hati. So rasa kena tenung je dalam live dia hahaha
• Sunoo is such a sunshine bila buat live, exactly feels like BFF video call and excited nak story something. Dia buat live because he wants to yaps. Live dia penuh energy and excitement.
• Jay in my opinion, serious orangnya bila sendirian. Nak tengok dia gelak and senyum lebar tanpa reason, tunggu Jungwon masuk live. Jay bila keluar English, dia auto sassy tapi dengar dia sebut anything in English sangatlah satisfying sebab smooth je dengornya.

RANDOM OBSERVATION

• Main choreographer Enha adalah wanita, biasa aku tengok group mostly male cheoreoghper. Tapi katanya choreographer/ performance director Enha dah diganti? 
• Choreo diorang very structured and maintain their vampire lore, ada storyline
• One thing that kept me from Enha at the start adalah how serious and tenang this group is. Kitonyo dari zaman SUJU, BTS, SVT, SKZ yang bising dan chaos. Actually diorang all 6 T sorang je F Sunoo. Fun je diorang ni tapi tak nakal sangat, senang kawal
• Diorang selalu guna handsfree mic and its impressive diorang tak dengar mengah dan dance steady je
• Maybe the reason diorang tak strong hiphop sangat selain bukan dancing background, they are soft hearted kids, bukan yang penuh dengan kemarahan, kepanasan anak muda yang nak rebel sepertinya BTS waktu debut dulu. 
• I wanna know the thinking behind choosing vampire as their backstory. One thing I want to see is how Belift gonna move on their vampire storyline to other theme? Almost every kpop group mesti ada story awl diorang yang kadang cringe but they evolved from that macam Ateez pirate lore.

Aku kena selalu ingatkan diri sendiri yang group ni semua GenZ and kami sikit lagi nak level tante-tante dengan diorang. Tante medium rare steak, nak kata muda idok, nak kata well done belum lagi. 

Also soalan legit, adakah salah satu kriteria leader adalah Dimple? RM, Bangchan, Jungwon, Soobin. I feel like TXT and SVT banyak look after Enhypen. Opkos BTS ada from the start in I-Land but after that they are in the military and now keluar military, diorang ke oversea untuk rakaman album. Sunbae lain tengokkan dulu adik-adik ni sementara abang besar main pantai kat Amerika/Europe sana.

2025 ENNIVERSARY

First anniversary dengan Enhypen. Tema F1 pulak diorang. Congrats on their first MAMA Daesang! Menghilangkan streak BTS dari tahun 2018 wow,they deserved this 👏👏 Dari video ni I realized few things; 

• Bangsa T dah mula slow2 jadi F. Adakah faktor penuaan? Sunghoon sound mellow while reading his letter, he even shed tears aww.
• Jay is strong willed aka degil, hard on himself. I believe he is hard on others he care about too.
• We don't know what Jungwon going through this year.
• Heeseung & Niki actually both the same as in being less playful & more mature.
• Jake is totally right when he said they spend more time with the members than with the family. Them achieve a lot of things is possible because they are together, almost impossible to arrive at this stage alone, individually.
• I think people can take this idea to write handwritten letter for their anniversary ( sound sweet to me, cringey for people actually in a relationship 😂) . Or we should just write a letter for our self at the end of year, walking to our new season/ year.
